My Encounter With Malcolm

Among the books that intellectually an emotionally impacted me was the Autobiography of Malcolm X. I assure you that MalcolmX would never take a knee. He wanted an end to talk and--Action.
I was teaching high school on Long Island in 1965 and decided to hear him speak in Harlem. There were two other whites in the audience.
He had just returned from his trip to Mecca. By the way, on his trip back to America he stopped to participate in a debate at Oxford.
I most vividly remember a story that he told. He said that being in Mecca with fellow Muslims caused him to rethink his ideas. Muslims came in all skin colors! This was the story. He said that once at Harvard, a white girl had asked him what she could do. His reply was: Nothing. Blacks don't need your help. Go work with whites to end prejudice. Then, he said, that after being in Mecca, he now realized it was important to work with people of all skin colors. He said that he really wanted to talk with that girl.
Malcolm X and Martin Luther King wanted CHANGE. I believe if Malcolm X had not been murdered, he would have, at some point, united with King. Malcolm X and King wanted ACTION. Neither was into --let's feel good.
Apparently, many today just want to feel good!
How about if NFL players said they wanted to meet with Trump supporters.
